We have been booking Evergreen Children’s Theatre for the last ten years and will continue to book them for many years to come. The themes of the two shows are outstanding and lead the way for many related classroom activities.
Welcome to Evergreen Children’s Theatre
Established in 1990, Evergreen Children’s Theatre presents lively and educational puppet shows suitable for children from Pre-Prep through to Year Two in South East Queensland.
Evergreen Children’s Theatre currently offers two innovative and educational puppet shows: The Rainforest Experience and The Reef Experience.
These two shows were created by Jacinta Stewart, a qualified Early Childhood Teacher. She created the puppet shows inspired by her personal love and concern for our majestic Australian rainforests and The Great Barrier Reef. She believed that if we intend to protect their fragile environments, we need to educate our children to appreciate these natural and vulnerable worlds from an early age.
During the puppet shows audiences meet many unique creatures, authentic in name, colour and behaviour. They are encouraged to connect with the creatures, learn more about them, and to help continue the survival of their habitats.
Evergreen Children’s Theatre is committed to excellence in the production of theatre experiences for children, reflected in the on-going upkeep and maintenance of the sets, props and puppets, most of which are carefully hand-crafted to reflect the authentic fauna and flora they portray. Naturally this professionalism is also reflected in the enthusiastic and professional manner of the puppeteer, Kevin Galland.
The success of both Rainforest Experience and Reef Experience can be attributed to the pursuit of authenticity. This authenticity is reflected in the soundtrack which was composed specifically for each show. The soundtracks feature recordings of Australian animals and marine life as well music composed by Christopher Buckman.
The soundtracks are for sale on CD and can be used in classrooms to enrich learning experiences or as a relaxation tool. The CD’s may be ordered directly from this website or can be purchased when Evergreen Children’s Theatre comes to your centre or school.
Cleveland State Preschool
This presentation is of such a high standard that the children and sraff become totally immersed in a walk through the Australian Rainforest, listening to a myriad of sounds from some of the rainforest creatures and learning so much about the importance of nurturing our environment. Our preschool has had, for the last eight years, a firm booking for The Rainforest Experience and will continue to do so in the future.
Forest Lake State Preschool
Evergreen Children’s Theatre presentations are highly interactive and have proven to immerse the children into a creative environment, rich with both literacy and numeracy learning experiences. We thank Evergreen for the learning opportunities they have provided for out children and look forward to future presentations.
Algester Primary School
Kevin creates the environment using beautifully creafted and highly attractive puppets which instantly engages the interest of the children. He is always sensitive to student responses and actively encourages them to participate throughout the show. The information he presents about these environments is age appropriate and educational. The children thoroughly enjoy the show and continue to talk about the puppets and animals for weeks afterwards. Not only do they learn more about these two special habitats but they learn how they can preserve them.
Jamboree Heights State School
Kevin presents his puppet shows in a very relaxed manner, which in turn relaxes the children. His shows are factual and at the same time are presented to the children at their level. His props are colourful and the children are facinated by the whole experience.
